Hume splits with Archie on road

The Hume Hornets and Lady Hornets basketball teams picked up a road-split Thursday night against Archie High School. The Lady Hornets cruised to a 57-38 victory improving to 19-5 overall, while the Hornet boys were defeated 70-41 on Archie's Senior Night.

The Lady Hornets led 15-7 after the first quarter and by a dozen at halftime. Hume outscored Archie 17-13 in the third quarter to increase its lead to 46-30 entering the fourth quarter.

The Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Whirlwind 11-8 in the final frame for the final 19-point margin.

For Hume, point guard Brhett Mumma finished with 14 points, 19 rebounds, eight assists and a block, while forward Megan Sutcliffe added 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal. Karlee Metcalf netted six points and four assists, Hannah Gorda six points, a steal, rebound, and an assist; Katlyn Brooks three points, three rebounds and an assist; Malia McFrederick three points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal; while Hannah Swickhamer, Michala Lantsbarger, and Emmah Fillpot chipped in with two points apiece.

With the victory, the Lady Hornets improve to 19-5 overall, while the Hume boys drop to 15-9 overall.

"The girls played well and everyone got to play a lot of minutes," Lady Hornets head coach Delayna Thompson said. "It's always good to look at a scorebook and see that nine players put points on the board.
