The Hume Lady Hornets were defeated by the Drexel Lady Bobcats 63-30 in the Class 1 District 7 girls championship game Friday night in Hume.

Hume had its hands full all night trying to contain Drexel senior Jacy Bolton, who has committed to play Division I basketball for George Mason University. Bolton had a monster night, finishing with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and eight blocks.

The Lady Hornets hung tough early, trailing 9-8 with 2:38 remaining in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Hume guard Hannah Swickhamer drained a 12-foot jumper, as the Lady Hornets trailed 17-14.

From there, Drexel broke the game open, going on a 17-1 run to close out the first half, as the Lady Bobcats took a commanding 34-15 lead.

The Lady Hornets were unable to cut into the lead in the second half, as Hume closed out its season 22-5 overall.

"When you get over 20 wins in a season you've had a good year," Lady Hornets head coach Delayna Thompson said. "I'm just so very proud of how these girls have played. And also very proud of how the freshman and sophomores have stepped up."

For the Lady Hornets, senior Brhett Mumma finished with eight points, while fellow senior Megan Sutcliffe chipped in with seven.

"I love those two seniors to death," Thompson said. "They work hard, have helped their teammates on and off the court, and they love the game of basketball. It's been a great year."
