A family escaped without injury from a fire that destroyed their home this morning at 1103 E.Allison St., Nevada.

Resident Kory Tucker said that he and his family woke up and found smoke in the house just after 5 a.m. this morning. Tucker, his wife, and baby escaped without injury.

Nevada Fire Department responded to the fire and when they arrived, found fire through the roof already. Engine 219 deployed three handlines. Electrical power to the building was turned off and the fire brought under control. It took more than an hour to finish overhauling hot spots.

Damage to the building is estimated at $20,000. The fire department determined that an electrical problem was the cause of the fire. Nevada Fire Department responded with three apparatus and 10 firefighters.
