Six teams competed in the Bronaugh R-7 National Honor Society's sixth annual alumni basketball tournament fundraiser Friday evening.
According to the National Honor Society sponsor Robert Herbst, "Mike Thompson and Tyler Judd co-captain a team that has been undefeated in the last five tournaments. The other teams are out to beat them." After Friday night, Thompson and Judd's team now stands at 6:0 finishing 46-37 in the championship game.
Money raised by the tournament helps pay for National Honor Society scholarships, camp, and school supplies for students in need. While taking a break from cooking hamburgers and hotdogs in the concession stand, Herbst said that each year the tournament has gotten bigger, and that it was a good way for the alumni to get together again, although some have forgot how much it will hurt come Saturday morning. Herbst said he always cooks so that the students and their parents can enjoy watching and playing in the tournament.
