Tigers cruise to conference victory over Center
The Nevada Tigers crushed Kansas City Center 11-1 in a six-inning contest Thursday evening in K.C.
The West Central Conference victory improves the Tigers to 6-5 in WCC-play (11-13 overall).
For Nevada, junior Jacob Johnson picked up the win, scattering three hits over five innings, while striking out seven and walking three. In addition, Johnson was charged with an earned run. Payton Bright worked a clean sixth inning, recording one strike out.
At the plate, Nevada senior Andrew Heathman was 2-for-3 with two doubles and 3 RBIs. Catcher Brett Mitchell was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a pair of RBIs and a run scored, while junior Tyler Ketterman was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

The junior varsity team hammered Center 18-5 in four innings.

The Tigers conclude their regular-season with a WCC matchup against Archbishop O' Hara, Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Kansas City.
District play begins May 14 in Warrensburg, as No. 4 seed Nevada faces fifth-seeded Clinton in the opening-round of the Class 4 District 12 baseball tournament. The first pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
