Two people are in custody following a lengthy pursuit Sunday afternoon that started in Nevada and ended in Pittsburgh Kan. According to Sheriff's Office officials, a deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop on a black SUV when the vehicle failed to stop. The deputy recognized the driver as a revoked driver who was currently on parole and was also a person of interest for burglary and theft. Surrounding counties in Missouri and Kansas were notified and the pursuit continued into Kansas. Assisting deputies from the Crawford County, Kan., Sheriff's Office deployed spike strips, deflating the vehicles tires. The vehicle came to a stop inside the city limits of Pittsburgh where two male subjects then fled the vehicle on foot. Both subjects were taken into custody after a foot pursuit.
The driver has been identified as Trevor S Miller, 33 of Nevada and the passenger has been identified as Trey M Stone, 18 of Milo. Stone was currently wanted on a no-bond state warrant for probation violation and charges were filed against Miller early Monday morning charging him with a felony charge of resisting arrest. Bond for Miller was set at $10,000 cash only.
Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said Miller has run from law enforcement on multiple occasions. "Miller ran from us last year, causing a day-long manhunt and multiple deputies working overtime." The Sheriff said the pursuit was being monitored by supervisors, who made the decision not to call off the pursuit. "Just because you leave the state does not mean we will stop chasing you," Mosher said.
Both Miller and Stone were turned over to Kansas authorities until extradition back to Missouri can be arranged.
