Forkner nets 2nd place finish at Pro Motocross event
Richards native Austin Forkner, 17, scored his highest finish since turning pro earlier this year, placing second in the 250 Class at the Peterson CAT Washougal (Motocross) National, July 23 in Washougal, Wash.
Forkner now sits in fifth place (out of 80) in the 250 Class points standings with 257 points. Forkner has had an exceptional rookie season, as he next gears up for the Unadilla National, Aug. 13 in New Berlin, New York.
After Unadilla, only two events remain on the '16 Lucas Oil Outdoor National Pro Motocross slate: The Budds Creek National, Aug. 20 in Mechanicsville, Md; and the Ironman National, Aug. 27 in Crawfordsville, Ind. After finishing the Outdoor National series, Forkner will then set his sights on making the transition from Motocross to Supercross.
Supercross events are often held in arenas, with the races taking place on smaller, more compact tracks with bigger jumps than the outdoor Motocross tracks feature.
