Lady Tigers top Warrensburg to remain unbeaten
The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team stayed hot Thursday at home, defeating Warrensburg High School 5-4 in a West Central Conference matchup.
With the victory, the Lady Tigers move to 3-0 overall (1-0 WCC).
At No. 1 singles, Nevada's Emma Cheaney fell to Hally Pointek 8-5, while Nevada's No. 2 Erica Watanabe doubled-up Hope Dahlhoff 8-4.
Slotting in at No. 3 singles for Nevada, Jaiden Cherry topped Hannah Schaffer 8-4, while Nevada's No. 4 Sydnie Baker got past Nina Thessen 8-6.
At No. 5, Courtney Smith was edged by Warrensburg's Shelby Davis 9-7. Nevada's No. 6 Mikena Padgett fell to Malina Colburn by an identical 9-7 score.
Doubles
Nevada's top tandem of Cheaney and Watanabe were bested by Pointek and Shaffer 8-6. Cherry and Baker took care of business, dropping the Dahlhoff and Davis pairing 8-5. Smith and Padgett triumphed over Thessen and Colburn 8-2.
