Tigers swim to third-place finish at first-ever home meet

The Nevada Tigers swim team took home the bronze medal at Nevada's first-ever Tiger Swim Meet held Thursday afternoon at Walton Aquatic Park.

With the temperatures in the high 70s and breezy, Ozark High School won the meet, followed by Glendale, Nevada, Webb City Lamar and Warrensburg.

* 200-yard Individual Medley relay, Fourth-place 1:55.01: Thomas Prewitt, Jake Asberry, Grant Miller, and Cody Hansen (Best time of the season).

* 50-yard Freestyle: Jake Asberry, first-place with a time of 23.27; Thomas Prewitt, third place, 23.90; and Cody Hansen, fourth-place, 26.01.

* 100-yard Butterfly: Jake Asberry, first-place with a state qualifying time of 55.68.

* 100-yard Freestyle: Thomas Prewitt, second-place with a time of 54.21, missing first by only .06 seconds. Cody Hansen, fifth place, 1:00.37.

* In the 200-yard Free Relay, the team of Michael Henderson, Kalen Morris, Tyler Armstrong, and Grant Miller placed fifth, clocking a time of 1:54.21.

* Braden Russell placed sixth in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:10.27, besting his previous time by 3.5 seconds; 10th; Jack Niestrath, 1:39.13.

In the 400-yard Free Relay event, the team of Thomas Prewitt, Braden Russell, Cody Hansen, and Jake Asberry placed second with a time of 3:53.16.
