Sheldon cross country wraps regular-season on high note
The Sheldon Panthers cross country team concluded its regular season by competing in two recent meets.
The Sheldon boys team comprised of Nic Pitcock and Austin Bupp ran at the Sugar Valley Association Golf Course Oct. 17 in Mound City, (Kan), as the meet was hosted by Pleasanton High School (Kan). The Panthers followed up the Mound City meet by participating in the Lakeland High School (Deepwater, Mo.) Oct. 19.
At the Mound City meet, Pitcock ran a 21.36 in the 5-kilometer event ---- despite the high winds blowing that day, with wind gusts of 35-40 mph. At the Lakeland meet, while enduring chilly conditions that included pouring rain, Pitcock clocked his personal (season) best 5K time of 20.13.
Bupp competed in the junior varsity 5K event at Mound City, and the varsity 5K event at Lakeland (due to weather). Bupp finished with a time of 40.00 minutes at the Mound City meet, and 41:33 at Lakeland.
"With the regular season finished, I am very proud and impressed with the improvement of both runners during the practices and meets," said Panthers coach Mike Galimberto.
