Hornets win Hume junior high hoops tourney

Submitted photo The Hume Hornets won the Hume Junior High Basketball Tournament, held last week at Hume High School. After advancing to Saturday's championship game, Hume edged the Archie Whirlwinds 22-19, capping its 2016 season with its second consecutive championship, after claiming the Golden Valley Vernon County Conference tournament title a week prior in Walker. Hume concludes its season 14-1 overall. Against Archie in the title tilt, Riley Heckadon scored a team-high five points; Kuper Moore, four; Peyton McFrederick, four; Braxton Wikoff, three; while Tommy Sutcliffe, Logan Brooks, and Tim Margrave each chipped in with two points apiece.
