Lady Hornets throttle Calhoun
A convincing 45-21 non-conference road victory over Calhoun Friday night improved the Hume Lady Hornets to 5-5 overall (3-2 Golden Valley Vernon County Conference). The Lady Hornets trailed 8-6 at the conclusion of the first quarter, but rebounded to outscore Calhoun 13-2 in the second stanza, and 26-11 in the second half.
"We didn't shoot the ball well, but were able to crash the boards hard and get more shots up," Lady Hornets head coach Heath Heckadon said. "It is always good to get a win. I thought our effort was a lot better."
For Hume, sophomore forward Hannah Gorda posted a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Emmah Fillpot pitched in with 8 points and 10 rebounds, while Karlee Metcalf and Deborah Yarick chipped in with 6 points apiece.
