Clara Lee Holladay
Clara Lee Holladay, 95, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada. Clara was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Hurley, Mo., to Lewis and Jessie (Davis) Little. She was united in marriage to Armond C. Holladay on March 31, 1947, in Columbus, Kan., and he preceded her in death.
Clara was raised in Barry County, Mo., but also spent time in California and Kansas. Clara was a homemaker most of her life, canning, cooking for her family and gardening. She enjoyed helping with disabled veterans as well as many others in need. Clara also loved time spent baby-sitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clara lived nearly all of her life in Vernon and Cedar counties.
Survivors include four children, John Stephens and his wife, Gayla, Arcadia, Okla., George Stephens and his wife, Ray Lynn, Crescent, Okla., Robert Holladay, El Dorado Springs, and Margie Cargill, Nevada; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Goldia Tillford, Buffalo, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Armond, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David; three sisters, Blanche Hosinger, Nora Pendergrass, and Icie Lecompte; and two brothers, Virgil Little and infant brother Erskine Little.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, with Brandon Gardner officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
