W. Darrell Meyer
W. Darrell Meyer, 79, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Feb. 18. He was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Blackwater, Mo., to William L. and Lucille (Burlingame) Meyer. Darrell was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Rotary Club of Hot Springs. He was a business and civic leader and served as President of Regions Bank of Hot Springs from 1989 to 2003. Darrell also served as Chair of the Oaklawn Foundation from its inception in 2006 to 2016, when he was then named chair emeritus. He loved his family, friends, golf, bird hunting, traveling, and the arts.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 56 years Shirley J. Meyer, who passed away April 17, 2016.
Survivors include his children, W. Kirk Meyer and Kristy K. Ott-Meyer, of Albuquerque, N.M., Laura B. Clark, of Arlington, Texas, Jay S. Meyer of Alamosa, Colo.; grandchildren, Cassidy Sullivan (Dylan), Jordan Karnes (Larry), Colton Clark, Sara Meyer, Logan Meyer, Devon Meyer, Connor Clark, Megan Meyer, Ethan Meyer; and great-grandchild, Larry Karnes IV.
A celebration of Darrell's life will be 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Ark., with the Rev. David Moseley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Oaklawn Foundation (A 501(c)(3) organization) Attn: Rita Koller at the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, or First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Ark.
