Donna Sue Spencer
Donna Sue Spencer, 69, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, May 6, at her home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. Donna was born July 31, 1947, in Fort Scott, to Argle LaVerne and Neva Thedias (Watson) McReynolds. She was united in marriage to Vern E. Spencer on Feb. 5, 1965, in Lamar, and he survives of the home.
Donna was raised in the Vernon County area and attended school in both Nevada and Walker. She worked as an aide at the State Hospital in Nevada for more than 20 years. Donna was a 37-year cancer survivor. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Nevada. In her spare time she loved making quilts and fishing. But what she loved the most was spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband Vern she is survived by her children, Michael Spencer and his wife, Marilyn, Nevada, Diana Lee Spencer, Nevada, Robert Spencer and his wife, Susan, Sheldon; grandchildren, Meghan, Abby, Jesse, Tori, Carrie, Owen, Ashley, Caleb, Brooke and Bailee; great-grandchildren, AnnaMarie, Jovani, Brantley, Greyson and Haven; one sister, Peggy Swafford, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one daughter, Tammy Sue; grandchildren, Gracie, Colton, Amie, Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Matias, Elaina.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Bro. Jerry Pyle officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
