Lowell William Yazel
Lowell William Yazel, 80, of Nevada, passed away Friday, May 12, in Olathe, Kan.
Lowell was born April 27, 1937, in Freeman, Mo., the son of George and Naomi (Wiggington) Yazel. He grew up in Freeman and moved to Nevada in his junior year of high school where he graduated with the Class 1955. Lowell married Ann Marshall on Jan. 27, 1958, in North Kansas City, Mo. He worked in Nevada until 1957, then worked for Jack Cooper Transport in Kansas City and then in Colorado for several years. In 1966, the couple returned to Kansas City and Lowell worked for Goodyear Tire until 1978. He then worked for Wheel and Brake in Kansas City for 19 years before retiring in 1997. The couple returned to Nevada in 1998. Lowell was very active in the Nevada Griffon’s Baseball Organization and had a great love for Nevada High School and Cottey College sporting events. Lowell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nevada.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Ann, of the home; daughter, Kerry Retchless, Olathe, Kan.; son, Tom Yazel, Saint Anthony, Ida.; two brothers, Junior Yazel, Marshfield, Mo., and Richard Yazel and wife, Marilyn, of Nevada; sister, Helen Wood, Walker; also several nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Yazel.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hubert Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Green Mound, Harwood. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
