Competitive field of racers dazzle at Nevada Speedway
A talented field of racing competitors showed up to Nevada Speedway on Saturday night, as the evening’s festivities were accentuated by a fireworks show, sponsored by Eddie’s Auto.
— Mini Stocks —
Steven Bunton, of St. Joseph, found victory lane for the second week in a row. Bunton took advantage of pole position as he secured a wire-to-wire victory.
Kevin Prall, making his first Nevada Speedway appearance of the season, finished in the runner-up position after starting fifth. Current Mini-Stocks point leader, Jon Starnes of Nevada, dropped back a spot from his original starting position, placing third.
Another new face to the speedway, Jonathan Canzoneri, collected a fourth-place finish, while Sheldon’s Mike Baxter rounded out the top five.

After collecting a trophy the week prior, Nevada native Scott Johnson, starting fourth, maneuvered his way to a checkered flag finish.
After starting on the pole, Shawn Hendren, also from Nevada, placed in the runner-up position. Fellow Nevadan Karl Lehmann moved up three spots from his original starting position to place third.
Weekly competitor, Mike Bitner of Frontenac, Kansas, settled for fourth after starting second. Meanwhile, Joplin’s Greg Cantrell finished in fifth.

Making the trip over from Chanute, Kansas paid dividends for Michael Churning. After starting third, Churning blew past several track regulars on his way to victory lane.
En route to his best finish of the season, Thomas Dunham of Carl Junction, moved up two spots to collect runner-up. Moving up four positions was Nevada’s Jerry Wheeler, placing third. Fort Scott native William Franklin netted fourth, while Nevada High’s Jaren Powrie moved up one spot to take the fifth-place finish.

Scoring his second feature win of the season, Lamar native Devin Crockett was able to hold off a late charge from track juggernaut Rob Muilenburg.
Muilenburg, who has already scored four victories this season, was forced to settle for the runner-up finish. Mitchell Coulter of Fort Scott, who was passed late by Muilenburg, went home with third place.
Fourth place went to Nevada’s Cayden Campbell, while Fort Scott’s Norman Mackley, dropped back three spots to finish in fifth.

Having not tasted victory lane since 2015, weekly competitor Jeff Douty found his way back Saturday night, holding off challenges from second and third place finishers Brayton Skaggs and Matt Rose.
Nevada Speedway fans received a treat as Douty, Skaggs, and Rose went head-to-head throughout much of the 15-lap feature event. The trio of talented drivers showed that three-wide racing can be achieved on the tight quarter-mile track.
Skaggs ended up finishing second, while Rose locked up third. Rusty Skaggs of Fort Scott, went on to finish fourth, while the man on the move was Justin Pike — who finish fifth after starting back in the 13th position.

After blazing to top five finishes the past couple of weeks, Chase Sigg of Iola, Kansas, took home the first-place hardware, weaving his way to the top spot after starting in the fourth position on Saturday.
Making his first-ever trip to the speedway, was Paden Phillips of Chanute. Phillips, who started eighth, had a night to remember as he moved up six spots to take second. Weekly competitor and El Dorado Springs native Lucas Dobbs, nailed down a third-place finish, as Nevada’s Scotty Bough place fourth and Craig Wood, fifth.

After collecting a feature win back on opening night, Nevada’s Jon Sheets again sailed into victory lane, while putting a halt to 74-year-old Darrell Mooneyham’s win streak.
Mooneyham, however, placed a strong second, as El Do’s Dylan Timmerman coasted to third. UP NEXT
