Donna Mae Hulse

Donna Mae Hulse, 74, Bronaugh, passed from this life on Aug. 18, at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott. Donna was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Sheldon, to Orville Leon and Helen Frances (Highley) Jones. On June 10, 1962, she was united in marriage to Lowell Hulse, Sr., in Nevada, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2010.

Donna attended Nevada High School and graduated Class of 1960. Following high school she worked for a time at Kresses Department Store before becoming the Postmaster in Bronaugh where she continued to work until her retirement. Donna loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, cooking, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Donna had a gentle spirit and a heart for always helping others in need.

Survivors include her daughter Nora Lorenda Carlson (Scott), Independence, Mo.; one son, Lowell Hulse, Jr., Bronaugh; four grandchildren, Sean Carlson, Independence, Jenny Carlson, Independence, Christopher Hulse, Bronaugh, Kayley Spragg, Pittsburg, Kan.; one sister, Frances Decker (Rex) Versailles, Mo. In addition to her husband Lowell, she was also preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
