Pep rally held for Tigers on eve of district semifinals
Sending the Nevada Tigers off in style, a pep rally was held for the NHS football team on the eve of its Class 4 District 6 playoff showdown with top-seeded Grain Valley (8-2).
Several Nevada players spoke from a stage outside of the team’s fieldhouse, including quarterback Braeden Hinton and offensive lineman Keeton Brockmeyer.
The fifth-seeded Tigers will look to spring the upset tonight, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. at Grain Valley High School. Nevada head coach Wes Beachler, said time of possession is a major key to his squad’s fortunes.
“We have to dominate the offensive side of the ball,” said the veteran coach. “The last couple of weeks we haven’t had very many penalties or any turnovers. We need to continue that and make good decisions offensively.”
Added Beachler: “(Grain Valley) is probably the most physical team we’ve seen in the last three or four weeks and, they’re a disciplined team.”
