Legion dishes up Thanksgiving feast
The American Legion has been providing a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner to anyone who needs one or just does not want to spend the day alone for around 50 years. Nevada’s American Legion Leon Ogier Post No. 2 provided a traditional Thanksgiving dinner of Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy and pumpkin pie for more than 50 people Thursday. They will also host a free ham dinner on Christmas Day as well as toys for children. The Christmas dinner and toys have been an annual project since the Legion was formed as the second post in the state of Missouri after World War I. Nevada’s Legion is now the oldest one in the state since Missouri’s first American Legion post in St. Louis closed its doors in the last year.
