Nevada, Warrensburg set for key conference clash

In an early-season marquee hoops match-up, the Nevada Tigers are slated to tangle with Warrensburg, with tip off set for 7 p.m. tonight at Wynn Gym. Nevada enters the contest on fire at 6-1 overall, winning by an average margin of 17.7 points per contest. In addition, the Tigers are off to a perfect 4-0 start in West Central Conference-play. Meanwhile, Warrensburg is off to a 5-1 start (1-1 WCC-play), with their only loss coming to Kansas City Center on Monday night (57-47).

“Warrensburg shoots the ball from the perimeter extremely well,” said Nevada head coach Shaun Gray. “They have four knock-down shooters. If they get hot from the 3-point line, and we don’t run them off the line — they will be hard to stop. And on the other end of the floor, they play a great helping man-to-man defense — so they always have help in the lane. They try to guard (the perimeter) hard and be physical in the paint. In the half-court, they definitely try to keep teams out of the paint.” Added Gray: “I think if we’re patient offensively, and run them off the 3-point line, those two things will give is a chance.”
