NMS Tigers derailed in TCC semis
Fresh off Monday’s first-round upset over Neosho, the No. 5 seed Nevada Tiger eighth-grade basketball team was turned back by top-seeded Carthage, 55-28, in the semifinals of the Tri-County Conference Tournament in Carl Junction Tuesday.
Nevada (3-9) trailed 22-14 at halftime, but did not come out with the same level of energy in the second half, according to head coach, Neil Barnes.
“Carthage forced a lot of turnovers and got some easy lay-ups as a result,” noted Barnes. “I thought we came out an competed for four quarters, which was not the case when we played them two weeks ago. I am proud of my guys’ effort and how they continue to improve.”
For Nevada, Evan Rea tallied a team-high, 12 points.
