Observing the National Day of Prayer

Scott Buerge, president of Metz Bank, leads some 60 people in a responsive reading of Psalm 51 at the noontime observance of the National Day of Prayer. While this is the tenth anniversary of such an event held at the courthouse, it is only the second time inclement weather necessitated a move to the circuit courtroom from the south side of the Vernon County Courthouse.

As part of the local observance of the National Day of Prayer, First Christian Church, Nevada, organized and hosted a prayer breakfast. When it came time to pray for law enforcement personnel, the 30-some people on hand formed into two groups, one laying hands and praying around Nevada police and the other with members of the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
