The Nevada Griffons topped the Jefferson City Renegades in a wild 7-6, 10 inning victory Tuesday night at Lyons Stadium.

A 6-2 Griffons advantage evaporated in the seventh, as the visiting Renegades plated four runs, punctuated by Marquise Doherty’s two RBI-single.

Nevada relief pitcher Easton Buckley was roughed up in the seventh, surrendering four runs without recording an out. Buckley was replaced by Derek O’Dell, as the former Nevada High School product went on two strike out two, while allowing two hits over two scoreless innings of work.

In the seventh, O’Dell fanned Jefferson City’s Jadey Reese and then induced a fly out to Powell in center. On the fly out, Powell gunned down Mike Million at home plate, preserving the 6-6- tie.

The contest remained tied 6-6 until the bottom of the 10th, as Griffons second baseman Tanner Maskey led off the frame with a single. Maskey then advanced to second on a Lukas Polanco fielder’s choice groundout.

Jefferson City elected to intentionally walk Drew Austin, putting runners on first and second with one out.

Nevada center fielder Wesley Powell followed with a walk-off run-scoring single, as the Griffons prevailed 7-6.

Making his Griffons debut, Talbot Buford dazzled, allowing two earned runs, while striking out six over six frames of work en route to the no-decision.

Nevada closer David Ruot (2-0) tossed a clean 10th inning and recorded the pitching victory, while lowering his ERA to a microscopic 1.50.

At the dish, Polanco finished 1-for-3 with three RBI — while Maskey, Powell, and Connor Dupuy chipped in two hits apiece.

The victory improves the Griffons to 22-15 overall, as they maintain a one game-lead on second-place Ozark in the MINK South division.
