CASSVILLE — In Friday night prep hoops action, the Nevada Tiger boys and girls easily dispatched Cassville in a Big 8 Conference West division varsity doubleheader.

The Tiger boys rolled to a 73-54 victory, extending their win streak to 11, while improving to 15-5 overall and 5-0 in the Big 8 West.

The Lady Tigers, meanwhile, routed the hosts — 81-24, and upped their record to 16-4 overall, and 5-0 in the Big 8 West.

“Proud of the job we did defending (Ethan) Hoppes,” said Nevada head coach Shaun Gray, as Cassville’s star guard was limited to eight points on the night. “Holding (Hoppes) to single digits was a tough task.”

Led by Dalton Gayman’s team-high 17 points, four Nevada players finished in double-figure scoring.

“Each guy on the team contributed. I’m really happy with the way we shared the ball,” noted Gray. “I was also pleased with our free throw shooting tonight (13-of-16), and that we ran the floor well. We were able to limit their transition game, which was a big key.”

Nevada girls’ head coach Brent Bartlett was equally impressed with his squad’s dominant performance.

“We did what we needed to do, and took care of business,” said Bartlett of the 57-point drubbing.

For Nevada, guards Alison Bower and Payge Dahmer concluded with 15 points apiece.

Summed up Bartlett: “ I was proud of the girls, and its always good to get everyone lots of playing time.”
