Nevada’s Mitchem, Beachler tabbed for prestigious Sertoma Grin Iron Classic
Nevada High School football players Tristan Mitchem and Trey Beachler have been selected to play in the prestigious 18th annual Sertoma Grin Iron Classic all-star game, slated for June 7 in Springfield. Both Mitchem and Beachler were tabbed to the West team.
The senior duo is fresh off big campaigns for Nevada High, as Mitchem was a standout on both the offensive and defensive line for NHS. Beachler, a second-team All-Big 8 selection at tight end, displayed excellent yards-after-catch ability (YAC), with several long touchdown receptions.
“I think they are both deserving,” said NHS head varsity football coach, Wes Beachler. “Coach (Cody) Bull and his staff did well to choose them. Obviously, he had a chance to observe them himself when we played in Marshfield this past season (in Big 8 Conference-play).”
Beachler, who has been tapped as an assistant coach for the game, was impressed by the performances of Nevada duo Braeden Hinton (QB) and Braxton Shadden (DB) at the 2018 Sertoma Grin Iron Classic. “Braeden and Braxton had strong performance, and I’m sure these two will as well.”
