Charles Thomas McWherter Sr.

Charles Thomas McWherter Sr., 55, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at his home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. Charlie was born Nov. 27, 1963, in Nevada, to Richard William McWherter Sr. and Dora Jane (Parks) McWherter. He was united in marriage to Teresa Harbeck on May 5, 1995, in Miami, Okla., and she survives of the home.

Charlie grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1982. He worked at Norman Sheet Metal in Nevada for a number of years and then at Newton Burial Park for more than 20 years where he was currently the cemetery sexton. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish. Charlie was a Christian and also a longtime member of the Nevada Elks Lodge.

In addition to his wife, Teresa, he is survived by two sons, Charlie McWherter Jr. and his wife, Hailey, Nevada, and Ben McWherter, Nevada; two grandchildren, Ryker and Parker; two brothers, Dennis McWherter and his wife, Laura, Independence, Mo., and Stan McWherter and his wife, Joyce, Independence, Kan.; sister, Helen Sweet and her husband, Allen, Davenport, Fla.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harry Harbeck, Virginia, John Harbeck, Virginia, Chris Harbeck, Virginia, Patrick Harbeck, Georgia, John Stocker and his wife, Bernadette, Utah, Shirley McWherter, Texas, Mary Bollier, Arizona, Bernadine Oakes, Nevada, and Linda Hall, Texas, Kitty Jackson, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to the Sarah Cannon Research Institute in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
