Inaugural Lady Tiger alumni game just around the corner

Tuesday, July 23, 2019

The inaugural Nevada Lady Tiger alumni softball game is on tap, Aug. 3 at Bushwhacker Field.

According to a press release from the Nevada Tiger Softball Boosters, "Alumni from the past 17 seasons of Lady Tiger softball will be taking on our 2019 Lady Tigers in a fundrasing event."

The festivities are slated to kick off with recognition of alumni competing in the game, featuring Nevada High School grads from 2002-18. In addition, last season's Class 3 district champion Lady Tiger squad will be recognized, via a Bushwhacker Field Wall of Fame ceremony, according to the release.

Following recognition of the 2018 team, Nevada's Class 3 2010 state champion team will be honored. First pitch will be thrown out by Nevada R-5 superintendent, Dr. Tyson Beshore. The release states, "Dr. Beshore was "instrumental in the development of Lady Tiger softball in 2002 (inaugural season), and served as an assistant coach."

The Alumni vs. 2019 contest will immediately follow the pregame festivities, with a brief intermission slotted in at the conclusion of the third inning.

During the intermission, Nevada's Next Level Tigers will be recognized. According to the release, the Next Level Tigers are comprised of 19 former Lady Tiger players "who have used their talent and hustle on the field to help them earn a college education."

"Our goal as Lady Tiger boosters is to encourage not only our current Tigers to strive for this excellence, but to encourage future Tigers to do the same. A new addition to Bushwhacker field will be permanently hung to recognize these women, and will be added to each year," summed up the release.

The festivities will also include a silent auction.
