Lady Tiger spikers open season on high-note

Nevada High's Lady Tiger volleyball team secured a season-opening two-set victory over host Mount Vernon Thursday night.

Nevada (1-0, 1-0, Big 8) edged Mount Vernon by identical 25-23 scores in both sets. Stat leaders for the Lady Tigers included Lindey Smith, 12 assists; Lani Coonrod, 10 digs and two aces; Stacy Pennington, nine digs, five kills; and Julia Cassidy with a half-dozen kills.

Nevada made it a clean sweep, as both their junior varsity and C-team also collected victories.
