Pennington punches ticket to sectional golf tourney

Katie Pennington's performance at Monday's Class 1 District 3 Tournament at Eldon Country Club has the Nevada High sophomore advancing to next week's sectional tournament.

With players from the top two schools deducted from the equation, Pennington, pictured right, needed a top 15 finish to advance, and carded a 50-over-par 121 en route to the 13th-place finish.

The cut was 123, as fellow NHS sophomore Libby Barrett had her season come to a close, wrapping play at 60-over-par 131.

Eldon's Kassidy Hull won the individual district title with a 6-over-par 77. Eldon also won the team title, while Sacred Heart placed runner-up.
