Lady Tiger middle school hoopsters open season with sweep of El Do

Nevada Middle School's seventh and eighth-grade basketball teams kicked of their seasons in grand fashion Thursday night, knocking off rival El Dorado Springs in each of the three matchups.

Nevada's eighth-grade A-team downed the visitors, 20-7, while the NMS seventh-grade A-team prevailed —19-12. In the lone B-contest, the NMS seventh-graders grinded out a 16-6 victory.

For Nevada in the 8B game, Kara Phillips concluded with a game-high six points — while Lakyn Applegate and Katie Johnson chipped in four each. Nevada also received scoring contributions from Lindey Wilson, Alli Balk, and Abbi Balk — scoring two points apiece.

In the seventh-grade A-game, Jenna Godsey tallied a team-high six points — while Peyton Eaton chipped in four.

In the 7B game, Nevada's Hailee Richmond dropped in a game-high, eight points.

Nevada's seventh and eighth-grade teams will look to remain undefeated on the young season, as they return to the court Monday for a road-clash with Butler.
