Lady Tiger softball team shares spotlight
Fresh off their phenomenal season on the diamond, the Nevada Lady Tiger softball team took center stage at their postseason awards banquet Tuesday night at Nevada High School. First-year head coach Danny Penn spoke glowingly of his squad, recapping the memorable season that was.
A come-from-behind walk-off victory in the Missouri Class 3 sectional-round at Bushwhacker Field, propelled the Lady Tigers to the state quarterfinals, the furthest they've advanced since the program's 2010 state championship run. Nevada (16-9) was then toppled by host Savannah in the elite eight — snapping a 10-game win streak.
As part of Tuesday evening's festivities, Penn announced individual postseason accolades earned by his players, and also handed out team awards.
