Nevada Police execute narcotic search warrant

On Jan. 14, Nevada Police executed a search warrant in the 300 block of East Douglas Street in response to reports of the distribution of illegal narcotics at that location.

Detectives had developed information regarding a known male subject at that location that had reportedly been involved in illegal drug activity.

During the search detectives located and seized suspected methamphetamine and suspected drug paraphernalia. The evidence seized will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.

Two residents were taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The two subjects were identified as follows:

James D. Nelson, age 44, of Nevada.

Christina J. Ellzey, age 40, of Nevada.

On Jan. 15, the following charges were filed against James D. Nelson through the Vernon County Associate Court:

Delivery of a Controlled Substance - Class C Felony

Nelson is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash only bond.

On Jan. 15, the following charges were filed against Christina J. Ellzey through the Vernon County Associate Court:

Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony

Ellzey was released on her own recognizance (ROR).
