Personal Protective Equipment donations sought for local health care providers
Community members have been stepping up to the task of helping each other during the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The Nevada Daily Mail's Business Manager Heather Trytsman is no exepction to this. She has begun collecting donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to be delivered to local health care professionals.
“The donations came about because I have family and friends that are in the medical field here locally and abroad,” stated Trytsman. “They were telling me that there is a shortage and when there is a time of need in Nevada, if you put the word out there, usually everybody will come together to help. Also, my youngest son wanted to do a community service project for 4-H.” With everything going on because of the pandemic, this made sense for his service project.
Personal Protective Equipment items needed include N95 masks (or any kind of face mask, even homemade ones), gowns, bleach, hand sanitizer (these can include homemade sanitizers and soap), Lysol wipes, Clorox wipes, and gloves. “Anything that is a protective measure for the health care provider to stay as safe as possible while assessing the sick,” noted Trytsman.
“I'll deliver them every night if I need to,” stated Trytsman about the donations. “We'll deliver it one night to where one clinic will get it. The next night, a different one, and just keep passing it around so it's not all in one location. We'll also include the Vernon County Ambulance District since they are first responders.”
Donations are being accepted outside the Nevada Daily Mail office at 131 S. Cedar St., in a box by the front door. Items are brought inside, each night, at the end of business day. “If they want to private message me on Facebook for another pick-up location, I'm willing to do that as well,” added Trytsman.
