Snyder discusses Osage Prairie's safety measures
By all indications the Osage Prairie YMCA has done a top-notch job of ensuring the safety of its members, employees, and guests. The facility initially reopened in a limited capacity, in order to make certain all practical Covid-19 safety measures were in place.
It's been confirmed that the most recent Covid-19 positive case in Vernon County spent time at Osage Prairie on July 14-15, as well as Sharky's Pub on July 16.
"People need to relax a little bit," Osage Prairie YMCA director Jeff Snyder told the Daily Mail. "Yes, there was a positive (case) here. What that does not mean, is that they got it coming here."
Added Snyder: "And unfortunately, there's people that kind of tie those two together."
Snyder has the utmost confidence that his staff has, and will continue to maintain a germ-free environment. Snyder also lauded Osage Prairie's members for their due diligence in adhering to the Covid-related protocols.
"All somebody needs to do is come and watch our cleaning process," he said. "We make sure that there's enough disinfectant bottles for every member that comes in. They're wiping their own stuff down."
Noted Snyder: "There's a good chance that there's people that have been tested that have been here. It's no different than going to Walmart, or Woods, or anywhere else. It just so happened that they came here before they knew that they were positive."
Snyder indicated based off the lone confirmed Covid-positive individual traced back to Osage Prairie, that they're not planning on doing anything differently.
"We are going to continue making sure that our facility is clean," he said. "We're going to continue with all of our cleaning practices, continue with our social distancing expectations we follow — with the guidelines that have been set with our county and local health officials. We're going to continue on that path until we're told to do something different by local officials."
Summed up Snyder: "The safety of all of our members, and the people that come in-and-out of here is (our) highest priority. We understand the sensitivity around the issue for many people. We're doing everything we can to make sure that our members and the community that participate here feel safe."
