On My Own to host 'Family Night Out'
On My Own Inc. is set to hold to their fun-filled Family Night Out event, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
The festivities include games for all ages, exploration activities and a movie, information about parent support, as well as food and drink.
On My Own community relations director Reyna Blakely discussed why the event is important for the community as a whole.
"A lot of families have felt alone during the Covid-19 pandemic," she said. "This event can help remind (people) that, even during these trying times, On My Own is still available to help our community. Additionally, as an Independent Living Center, we provide youth services — and can provide guidance to parents and students in need."
Added Blakely: "During the pandemic, it has been challenging for the community to come together as a whole. In hosting this event, we can come together and share resources, meet local families, and provide a night of fun for the whole family."
Blakely noted that the primary objective of the event is to connect families via helpful resources available throughout the community.
"These connections can ensure families in need are receiving the help they need to succeed," she said.
Additionally, the event will look to raise awareness for On My Own's parent support, which is held from 6-7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.
