Jean Marie Smith

Jean Marie Smith, 74, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Jean was born March 9, 1946, in Springdale, Ark., to Edmond A. and Marguerite (Wagner) Todd.

Jean was raised in Springdale, Ark., and attended school in Springdale. In 1973, she came to Montevallo and later to Nevada. She worked in various restaurants and was the first female cook at White Grill in the 1980s. Jean was a homemaker and raised seven children. Jean was a faithful blood donor with a lifetime donation of over eight gallons, and she was a very active volunteer and member of the Church of Christ in Nevada.

Survivors include her children, Steven Wheeler (Linda) Nevada, Mo., Tina Leslie (Mike), Elkins, Ark., Becky York (Phillip), Nevada, Cynda Robertson and fiance, Buck Pennington, Drexel, Mo., Crystal Hale (Terence), Haines City, Fla., Richard Smith (Jennifer), Nevada, Mo., and Monica Miller (David), Rich Hill, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Todd and family, Springdale, Ark., and Gerald Todd and family, Springdale, Ark.; three sisters, Margaret Ann Johnson and family, Springdale, Ark., Julia Helen Walker, Wichita, Kan., and Tana Todd, Springdale, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and brother, Phillip Todd.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Nevada Eagles Lodge back hall.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Church of Christ in care of Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
