Nevada Fire Department personnel were called to a report of a commercial structure fire at 500 E. Cherry St. in the early morning hours Friday.
A Nevada Police Officer on patrol reported seeing smoke coming from the old Ramey's building. Upon the arrival of the Nevada Fire Department to the scene, heavy smoke was seen coming from the roof of the building over Village Laundry. Mutual aid was called from Milo, Compton Junction, and Walker Fire departments.
Crews found fire in the front area of the laundry mat and they were able to get a quick knock down on the fire. The Missouri State Fire Marshal was called in to assist with investigation.
