Faulty wiring causes commercial structure fire

The Nevada Fire Department (with mutual aid from Milo, Compton Junction, and Walker Fire departments) responded to a report of a commercial structure fire at the old Ramey's building early Friday morning.

Nevada Fire Department personnel were called to a report of a commercial structure fire at 500 E. Cherry St. in the early morning hours Friday.

A Nevada Police Officer on patrol reported seeing smoke coming from the old Ramey's building. Upon the arrival of the Nevada Fire Department to the scene, heavy smoke was seen coming from the roof of the building over Village Laundry. Mutual aid was called from Milo, Compton Junction, and Walker Fire departments.

Crews found fire in the front area of the laundry mat and they were able to get a quick knock down on the fire. The Missouri State Fire Marshal was called in to assist with investigation.

The cause of the fire was found to be from faulty wiring.
