Klotz promoted at Assumption of Command ceremony
Tuesday, September 29, 2020

In an Assumption of Command ceremony held recently, Cadet Major Tanner Klotz — a Nevada High School student in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) program — was promoted to the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel. Klotz has served as the Corps Squadron Commander. His mother and stepfather, Ashley and David Brownsberger, had the honor of pinning on his new rank. The assumption of command ceremony is a military tradition that is rich with symbolism and heritage dating back to medieval times. Soldiers often carried staffs or standards into battle that identified them as a unit. Throughout military history, unit colors have marked the position of the commander on the battlefield and served as a rallying point. The passing of the unit colors represents the transfer of authority and responsibility for the unit from one commander to another.
