The Bronaugh City council met on Wednesday, Jan. 6, for their regular monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Sherry Brown.

The Bronaugh City Council met in regular session Wednesday evening with a light and varied agenda.

"The Thompson family came to the meeting to see what their options were for access to some land that they will be purchasing which a portion is in the city limits," Mayor Sherry Brown said afterward. "As it is, [the land] is not accessible and they are wanting to buy and build a home on it. Council looked at city maps that showed alleys and first street which have been formally closed. After much discussion, it was decided that they will talk with the realtor and the city attorney to see what the best option is. They will also be hooking on to city water and possibly sewer."

I reply to a question by Mr. Yount, Brown stated that procuring a generator for the City's wastewater lift station with no feasible at this time.

"If there is an event that the lift station could not keep up with such as a large rain, they will get with a sewage company to come and pump out the pit at the site," Brown said.

In other business, the Council approved the 2021 budget.

"The city has 2 CS's coming due - one in the water fund and one in the sewer fund," Brown said. "Due to the low-interest rates available at this time they will move these to a money market fund. This will allow the money to be accessible if interest rates would go up."

The Council reviewed three water/sewer bill reductions.

A water customer wants to start a dog kennel. After discussion, the Council voted to approve the kennel's connection to the water system.

"Derek is investigating with DNR to make sure it will meet requirements under the wastewater permit," Brown said.

Jane Buehler updated the Council on the new City building. She reported all bills are paid and another load of rock had to be purchased for the foundation.

"The rock is needed before they can begin the cement work," Brown said.

The Council next meets Monday, February 8 at 6 p.m.
