City Council to hold special session to approve building demolition bid

Nevada City Manager Mark Mitchell announced on Friday that the Nevada City Council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, to approve a bid for demolition of the building at 100 N. Cedar St., on the Nevada Square.

"If approved, demolition should start on Thursday," noted Mitchell. "There will be more details on Monday."

The estimated cost of the demolition is $22,500. The rest of the clean-up will be bid out to local contractors. According to the agenda for the special session meeting, the bid being considered for the demolition is from Dehn Demolition.

There are currently 41 buildings on Nevada's Dangerous Building report. A list of Nevada's Dangerous Buildings is attached to the report section of the Nevada City Council agenda each month and is available on the city website.
