NHS golfers awarded end-of-season honors

Nevada High School head golf coach Brian Leonard handed out several awards on Friday to members of his girls team after a successful season this past fall.

Junior Katie Pennington, sophomore Riley Severance, and freshman Paige Hertzberg — each of whom played in the MSHSAA Class 2 state tournament at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield — as well as Libby Barrett received Nevada letters for their accomplishments out on the links.

Pennington also received the Fighting Lady Tiger Award for the most outstanding Lady Tiger golfer, while Severance earned the Hazel Gordon Award for most improved golfer.

Pennington shot a combined score of 241 at state, followed by Severance with a 254 and Hertzberg with a 264.
