Tigers tangle on Carthage courts
The Nevada High School boys tennis team kicked off its busy week Monday afternoon at Carthage, with the crimson and gray bringing home two wins.
Nevada junior No. 1 singles player Evan Rea defeated Carthage senior Silas Smith, 8-1, and was also part of the No. 1 doubles team — along with playing partner Andrew La Near — that beat Smith and Ryan Phillips, 8-4.
In no. 2 singles, La Near dropped his match to Colby Tandy, 8-4.
Nevada's Chosen Reichard lost his no. 3 singles match to Henry Almandinger, 8-6.
In no. 4 singles, Jamin Mosher lost to Charles Snow, 8-3.
No. 5 singles: Trey Streeter lost to Danilo Lopez-Gramajo, 8-4.
No. 6 singles: Daylan Harth lost to Tyler Howard, 8-5.
In no. 2 doubles, Reichard and Mosher lost to Tandy and Snow, 8-4 — while Streeter and Harth lost their no. 3 doubles match to Lopez-Gramajo and Howard, 8-2.
The Tigers (1-6) will head to Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, before traveling to Logan-Rogersville on Friday. They will also squeeze in a junior varsity tournament at Bolivar on Wednesday.
