One week away from the Class 3 District 3 tournament, Nevada High School continues to play its best golf of the season.

After winning their first Big 8 Conference crown Tuesday in Carthage, the Tigers traveled to the Butler Country Club Thursday and recorded their lowest collective nine-hole score, 159, to beat the Bears by 30 strokes.

Senior Logan McNeley led the way with three birdies and two bogeys for a 1-under-par 35 — topping teammates Lane McNeley and Owen Swearingen by two strokes.

Cordell Cox shot a 50, and Bryce Eaton scored a season-best 54 to round out Nevada's successful day on the links.

The Tigers will look to continue their end-of-season momentum with a tune-up against Stockton Thursday at the Nevada Country Club before district play begins Monday, May 10, in Springfield — where the top 18 golfers will advance to the state tournament in Farmington.
