Kevin Dale Bright
Kevin Dale Bright, 58, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at St. Luke’s North Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Kevin was born May 25, 1963, in Nevada, Mo., to Arlen and Betty (Starlin) Bright.
Kevin was raised in Nevada and graduated in the NHS Class of 1982. He worked in construction for a time and has worked at the 3M Nevada plant for the past 23 years. Kevin was an avid sports fan, especially dirt track racing, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He raced at the Nevada
Speedway for many years. Kevin coached his children in various sports, whatever was in season, while they were growing up. One of Kevin’s passions in life was coaching youth sports and he touched the lives of many area youth, coaching little league baseball, football and basketball for over 30 years.
Kevin is survived by three sons: Darrick Crooks (Brooke) and their children, Baylor, Callen and Laken, Columbia, Mo., Dakota Bright (Whitney), Austin, Texas, and Payton Bright, Jacksonville, Fla.; his companion, Kathryn Zachary and her children, Kaeth and Steven, Nevada, Mo.; sisters, Lauri Lockwood (Dale), Nevada, Mo., and Marlen Byrd (Fred), St. Joseph, Mo.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m., at the Nevada Speedway.
Memorials are suggested to the Nevada R-5 Foundation for the Kevin Bright Memorial, to be used for clubhouse renovations at Lyons Field.
