Evans leads Tigers swimmers at Monett Indoor
The Nevada High School boys swimming team has begun increasing the intensity of its practices in order to be prepared for an end-of-season run — but that did not stop the Tigers from putting on a solid performance at an indoor meet at Monett on Tuesday.
Junior Karter Evans finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.38 seconds and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.21 seconds.
Evans was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team, along with Colby Bourassa, Daylan Harth, and Jeremiah Hoss, that dropped some time to finish seventh overall (1:51.07). Evans, Bourassa, Harth, and Chosen Reichard took eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.28) to round out the team’s top-10 finishes at the meet.
Harth finished 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.87), and Reichard was 12th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:26). Bourassa added a 13th place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.75), and Hoss was 15th in a pair of events, the 200-yard freestyle (2:36.92) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:07.47).
Nevada's 95 points placed it seventh out of eight teams. Springfield Central won the event with 364 points.
