Evertt Lee Buckner
Evertt Lee Buckner, age 90, of Nevada, Mo., passed away at his home, Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021. He was born Jan. 25, 1931, in Deerfield, Mo., to George William and Addie Mae (Ellifrits). He graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1950 and served his county in the United States army from 1952 until 1954 as a Corporal.
On May 25, 1968, he married Mary Jane Cushing, and she passed July 2020. He had worked in food service for the Veteran’s Administration, was a member of the VFW and was a Baptist.
Evertt is survived by his children, Rita Young, Belton, Mo., Regina Butler, Nevada, Mo., Melinda (Perry) Cornett, Parsons, Kan., Bruce (Tina) Buckner, Rich Hill, Mo., Barbara Rapp, Nevada, Mo., Mary Giannico (David Shearer) Independence, Mo., Dora Simmons, Raytown, Mo., and Ed (Cathy) Garwood, Mo.; a brother, Stanley (Linda) Buckner, Lawrence, Kan.; sister-in-law, Mary L. Buckner, Sheldon, Mo.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mary Jane, he is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Diana Buckner-Ewing; three grandchildren, Misty, Andrew, and Tommy; three brothers, James, Freddie, and Raymond; four sisters, Ellie, Erma, Dorothy, and Betty.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital with the funeral home serving as custodian.
