William “Bill” Elmer Sailor
William “Bill” Elmer Sailor, 84, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, in Nevada. Bill was born July 3, 1937, in Elk City, Kan., the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Raney) Sailor.
Bill grew up in Elk City, Kan. and graduated from high school there. He was united in marriage to Karen Ann Furnas on July 28, 1957. The couple moved to Iola, Kan., in 1964 where Bill worked for Layton Oil Company for 22 years, Carmel Energy 20 years, and an additional 12 years for Dennison’s. He was an active, faithful member of Iola Baptist Temple for 39 years, serving as a trustee, taught children’s church, and lead the youth department for many years.
In 2007, he and Karen moved to Nevada, Mo., where they joined the Bible Baptist Church and served faithfully as head usher until his passing. Bill was a hard worker throughout his life. He farmed for his dad driving the tractor from the age of six. For the past 11 years he has enjoyed raising a large garden. His greatest joy was serving the Lord and his family.
In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by four children, Sue Mahloch (Gary) Nevada, Sandra Garver (Alan), Monett, Billy Sailor, Fort Scott, and Judy Logan (Tom), Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Amanda Bourassa, Terry Logan, Bryan Garver, Wendy Pyle, Andrea Fowler, Kelsey Bentley, and Justin Logan; and 20 great-grandchildren, Brittany Garver, Emily Bourassa, Blaine Garver, Colby Bourassa, Hunter Bentley, Hannah Pyle, Nathan Pyle, Noah Logan, Hayden Bentley, Naomi Pyle, Eli Logan, Braxton Garver, Caleb Pyle, Dakota Fowler, Bryer Garver, Jackson Bentley, Jason Bentley, Mylah Garver, Adelyne Logan, and Michael Logan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Bible Baptist Church, in Nevada, with Pastor Jerry Pyle officiating. Interment will follow in Click Cemetery. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
