Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive coming to Nevada Sept. 30

Saturday, September 25, 2021

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood and plasma to patients at 44 area healthcare facilities, reports less than a one-day supply of most blood types. The turnout at many area blood drives is still being negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On the hospital side, blood transfusions are taking place at levels not seen in several years. Blood drives around the CBCO service region serve a vital function in preserving the good health of our community.

CBCO donors provide all the blood for patients at Nevada Regional Medical Center as well as dozens of healthcare facilities across the Ozarks. Nevada area residents will have the opportunity to donate at the following location:

Nevada Community Blood Drive

First Christian Church – Fellowship Hall

204 S. Cedar, Nevada

Thursday, Sept. 30 – 1 to 6 p.m.

Successful donors will receive a heather grey T-shirt featuring mountains, a bear, and a great lifesaving message.

“It is so important right now to give your blood to the only organization that supports your friends and neighbors in the region,” CBCO Donor Recruiter Belinda Belk said. “Our blood supply is precarious right now as we continue to battle reduced numbers of donors. Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve lost over 15,000 donations. Meanwhile, our hospitals are transfusing blood at a rate that we haven’t seen in over five years. You can make a lifesaving difference by giving up less than an hour of your time to help others. I hope to see you at this community event.”

Appointments are strongly encouraged for this blood drive but are not necessary. Make an appointment to give at https://www.cbco.org/donate-blood/.
