Verna Mae Overstreet

Verna Mae Overstreet, 89, formerly of Bronaugh, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, at her home in Lee’s Summit. Verna was born July 2, 1932, in Montevallo, Mo., to John A. and Eveline E. (Key) Folkner.

Verna was raised in the Bronaugh area and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1950. She has lived in the Kansas City area for the past 40 years, retiring from ATT in Lee’s Summit following 32 years of employment. Verna loved bowling, crocheting, traveling, snow skiing in her younger years, and her dogs and cats. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Lee’s Summit.

She was married to Jerald Overstreet and to this union three children survive, Jerold Overstreet (Rosemary), Liberty, Mo., Jeff Overstreet (Vicki), Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Traci Overstreet (Hobie Crane), Olathe, Kan. Additional survivors include daughter-in-law, Clorecia Overstreet, Raymore, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Sean Johnson, Jayme Overstreet, Amanda Hamilton (Scott), Michael Overstreet (Tara), Justin Overstreet, Joseph Overstreet (Katie), Shannon Leete (Nathan), Ashley Overstreet (Johnny Soliz), and John Overstreet; 15 great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Sophia, Lilly, Evey, Colton, Abigail, June, Mariah, M.J., Alexa, Eva, Hendrix, Colton Walker, Vivienne, and Scarlett; sister-in-law, Ruby Folkner, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Jay Overstreet; two brothers; and seven sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
